What this is
Yuk Central ("we", "the site") is a community ranking platform for stand-up comedians. We try to keep things simple and respectful of your data. This page explains what we collect, why, and what control you have.
What we collect
When you create an account, we store your username, email address, and password (encrypted). When you vote on comedians, we store which comedian you voted on, whether you upvoted or downvoted, and the date. If you choose to fill in profile fields like display name or bio, we store those too.
We also collect basic technical information from every visitor — your IP address, browser type, and pages visited — so we can detect abuse, fix bugs, and understand traffic. This information is logged by our hosting provider and is not used to track you across other websites.
What we don't do
We don't sell your data. We don't run advertising trackers on the site (yet — if that ever changes, we'll update this page and notify users). We don't share your email address with third parties.
Cookies
We use cookies for two things: keeping you signed in (a session cookie) and remembering your preferences (like which leaderboard tab you last viewed). We don't use third-party tracking cookies.
Your account and your data
You can edit your profile, change your password, or delete your account at any time from your account settings. Deleting your account removes your profile information and disassociates your votes (the vote totals stay, but the link to you is removed).
Your profile is private by default. You can make it public from your account settings. When public, other visitors can see your username, display name, bio, voting stats, and any lists you've created.
Children
Yuk Central is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we'll remove it.
Third parties
The site embeds video thumbnails from YouTube via their public API. When you click an episode, you're taken to YouTube and YouTube's privacy policy applies from that point. Some comedian photos are loaded from third-party sources (the comedians' own websites, image CDNs, etc.) — we don't control those services.
Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes to how we handle data, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top. For account holders, we'll also send an email if changes affect you directly.
